Make an Event That Could Live Forever

Have you ever gone to an event, and wished it didn’t have to end? Well, when you create the perfect follow-up campaign, it doesn’t have to! Here are a few of the best ways  to extend the life of an event: 

Recap Posts

If you read my blog How to Do Event Coverage Like a Pro, then you know having recap posts is a game changer for event promotion and coverage. While your guests are still riding the wave of attending your soiree, posting  a reflection of all the highlights from the occasion is a must! Options include a series of reels, carousel posts, and uploading photo galleries to an online album.  Make sure to tag any sponsors, special guests, and vendors for them to reshare, furthering the reach of your event and creating lasting conversations. In addition, sharing such content will allow attendees to relive the party through a new perspective. 

Press Coverage

If you sent out a press release ahead of your event date, now is the perfect time to follow-up with your media connections.  Include any additional key details that might have happened during the event, a round-up of photos, and B-roll footage.  Details may include groundbreaking announcements, final donation counts, and attendance numbers. If you include photos, be sure to only include ones that are pertinent to the story you pitched. For example, pictures of keynote speakers and special guests. Then, B-roll footage of your busy and lively event can be beneficial in cases where a camera crew could not attend the event. Your media contacts  can then use this video content in a news segment later on, just as a writer can publish a post-event article. 

Throwbacks

While most of the hype from your event might trickle off over time, there is nothing better than being able to reminisce on a good time! Re-engage your audience by incorporating posts on your social calendar with throwback features. If you are not keen on the traditional “Throwback Thursday” trend, consider doing a “Did You Know” series about the event. For example, you could do a trivia post for people to guess the attendance count or donation amount in the comment section. This is a great way to boost engagement, and show off the fancy professional event photos.

Repurposing Content

Now that this event is behind you, it’s time to start planning the next one, or preparing for next year. Any of the content you collected can be repurposed for future event promotion. Some of the best ways to use past event photos and videos is through ad campaigns and RSVP posts. These are vital to spread awareness, increase registration, and solicit donations and sponsorships. Repurposing your content demonstrates that you can host a successful event – one that can happen year after year! Plus, the last thing you want to do when boosting an event is to share only graphics, because this prevents your audience from envisioning themselves attending the event. With your amazing photos already to hand, you have the opportunity to share posts that include people, and posts that feature people tend to perform the best on social media!
